Safety Campaigns
On the move website focuses on road safety education in New South Wales (NSW) schools, recognising that road-related crashes are a major cause of death and serious injury among young people. Road safety is integrated into the school curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 10, aiming to develop safe behaviours for pedestrians, passengers, and future drivers.
The “On the move” program challenges students’ thinking and actions to reduce road incidents, considering the impact of brain development, peer influence, and risk-taking. It uses a strengths-based approach, encouraging students to make healthy and safe choices.
The NSW Road Safety Education Program supports schools with resources and teacher training. The bstreetsmart event further promotes road safety through simulations and personal stories. Transport for NSW also provides crash statistics for analysis and the development of road safety initiatives.
