An outstanding presentation
Our school was fortunate enough to view the bstreetsmart road safety event at Allphones arena this week. I would like to sincerely thank the volunteers, organisers and sponsors of this event for an outstanding presentation.
The big message that our students received from this forum is the power of the passengers in influencing the driver to slow down and behave responsibly. It pulls no punches and it was a powerful experience and I encourage all principals to explore sending students from their school to next years event. Thanks once again to all involved.

Thank you from a parent 2019
Dear bstreetsmart team
I would just like to thank you so much for your wonderful event yesterday.
I had never heard of it before, but fortunately my daughters school had, and she went with her year 11 group to your event. When she got home yesterday she talked to me in detail about all the things that happened at the event, and was talking for at least 20 minutes non-stop about it, possibly longer – which is not a “normal” occurrence!
It sounded very well thought out, educational, realistically confrontational, practical and interactive.
Kudos also to the brave people who shared their first hand experience of what can happen when driver safety is not 100% consistent. How wonderful that they have such passion to share their tragic stories to help others not get into similar preventable circumstances.
Prevention is definitely better than cure and although the impact of such an event as this cannot be measured by the number of accidents/incidents that it prevents, I am 100% convinced that this program has had a huge impact on my teenage daughter and has given her much knowledge on why she should be a safe driver and passenger. I hope that it has had a similar impact on all the people who attended.
I have two younger sons and I sincerely hope this event will be around for them in future years.
I am really impressed by it, even though I wasn’t even there (!) and I wanted to truly thank the team who got it off the ground and obviously put a tremendous amount of time and effort into it. Your efforts are appreciated by this mum right here. Keep up the great work! Thank you!
Yours sincerely

Admiration for the BSS program
I am in admiration of the current safe driving programs and intervention techniques you are teaching young drivers. While I never got a chance to attend one of your events, many of my friends have and it has been something that has lasted for them.
In June 2020, at 17, I was involved in a car accident where I sustained many physical injuries and have been in rehabilitation recovery ever since. However, the physical injuries I sustained could never compare to the emotional and mental injuries that have come as a result of road trauma.
The accident was out of my control and was at the hands of an individual who was suffering from a mental health crisis at the time. This is why I admire the number of organisations you have involved in your program that could be a lifeline to the next individual in a similar position to the driver, who was also 17 at the time.
I know in 2022 your program is back and I felt the need to not only commend your program but thank you for the effort you make to save lives. -
Extremely powerful and emotion provoking
Extremely powerful and emotion provoking. I think every teenager needs to witness something like that.

This was outstanding
We will now be having this built into our curriculum delivery. This was outstanding and our students have also passed on the message onto other students who were unable to attend.

It was really life changing
I went to bstreetsmart in 2014 and it really was life changing. I knew already that you shouldn’t drink drive, speed, use your phone, etc. and I continuously saw advertisements. But what you showed us in the expo really put things into perspective.
The talks that the two paraplegic drivers gave to us was heart wrenching and it touched me how they spoke, “you think it will never happen to you, but it can.”
I got my P’s a couple weeks ago, and your program and words have still stuck by me and I will never forget it. I always make sure my phone is in my glovebox, i don’t speed and so far I do not drink alcohol at all, but I know to call a taxi or uber as it can ruin mine or someone else’s life. I’d like to thank you for making me truly understand what it means to drive and how big of a responsibility it is. I hope you continue influencing young adults like me so they can make the right decisions.
Personally, I believe you should always continue to have more and more speakers who have experienced accidents and whose lives have changed because of it, because I felt like that was what made me realise how dangerous driving can actually be.
Once again, I’d like to thank you and I hope you continue to influence many other teenagers to make the right decisions.

Relevant and important information
I attended the forum today with 106 students. From the minute I saw the flyer advertising the program, I knew it would be relevant and important for our kids to participate in. However, the forum exceeded my expectations and has had a major impact on me and how I will live my life forever. I organised this for my students and have walked away from the forum with over a hundred students and four other teachers feeling a lot wiser and it has inspired all of us to be much more responsible and aware of the dangers of getting into a car, to give blood more regularly and tell our families to donate our organs. I will never forget what I saw and heard today.

A powerful experience
Thank you so much for the day. What a powerful experience. Our school got a lot out of the experience and will be looking to making it a regular excursion for our Year 11 students.
When the boy from Mt. Druitt High School spoke, I can’t tell you how many of my students have missed a day of school doing who knows what. They will think about it now!

As a driver of 15 years
As a driver of 15 years and a mother of two toddlers, I would never break the road rules. I would never speed, drink or talk on the phone whist driving. But your forum taught me that crashes are not about me following the rules, but about being distracted at the wheel of a car. Admittedly, I do get distracted, talk on the blue tooth and try to keep my kids happy whilst driving. This is a practice that I will not continue and I thankyou for enlightening me.

It was an excellent day and the students responded well to the information they were presented with. It should be compulsory for all students in NSW to attend this presentation.
